Quintana Back on Track with Solid Win Over Blue Jays

Jose Quintana will make his 15th start of the season, seeking his second straight victory. 
Quintana was outstanding in his previous start, limiting the Blue Jays to just two run in seven innings. 
The veteran left-hander has looked much better over his last three starts, 
however he still owns a poor 5.07 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP to go with a 3-8 record in 81.2 innings logged. 
He took the loss in each of his two starts against the Twins earlier this season after 
allowing a total of seven runs in 12 innings, 
and now possesses a 6-8 record with 4.28 ERA in 20 career starts against Minnesota. 
 

The White Sox are currently averaging 4.65 runs per game, 
ranking them 20th in the Majors, and are hitting .263 as a team. 
The Chicago pitching has been decent, posting a 4.39 team ERA, 
positioning them at 18th in the Major Leagues.

Turley Crushed by Cleveland in Second Career Start

Nik Turley will make his third start of the season, aiming for his first career win. 
Turley struggled in a big way in his previous start, conceding eight runs in 4.2 innings to the Indians, 
and was hit with the loss. The rookie left-hander allowed four runs in four innings to the Giants 
in his MLB debut, and has now allowed 17 hits in his 8.2 innings pitched. 
Turley posted a stifling 2.05 ERA in a the Minors this season, 
however his success has yet to translate to the Major League level. 

The Twins have slowed down at the plate, and are currently averaging 4.72 runs per game 
ranking them 16th in the Majors, and are hitting .254 as a team. 
The Minnesota pitching is also having a tough time, 
posting a 5.00 team ERA, placing them down at 27th in the Majors.

 

I have to go with the White Sox in this contest. 
Quintana appears to be back on track, 
allowing a total of only six runs over his last three starts (17.1 innings), 
and he’s actually pitched better on the road than at home this season. 
In addition, I don’t trust Twins starter Nik Turley as he has not looked good over 
his first two Major League starts, allowing a total of 12 runs on 17 hits in 8.2 innings, 
so I expect the White Sox to do damage against him. 
The White Sox are averaging a solid six runs over their last ten games, 
making them a strong play in this one.
